I believe that the most valuable therapist are those who have gone through
significant experiences where anxiety, depression, anger, loss etc were
experienced because you can’t bring anyone further than you have come. The
therapist needs to understand on a feeling as well as an intellectual level and
have appropriate boundaries that that serve the client’s potential for healing.
My role as a therapist is the facilitator using a variety of models such as
Cognitive Behavioral, Humanistic, Gestalt, dialectic and so on based upon the
needs and abilities of the client.
Exploring concerns and implementing the necessary coping skills and
self-awareness is most likely to lead to a more positive relationship with
oneself and others. I work with individuals and couples (heterosexual or same
sex), PTSD, and communication skills/anger management.
