today announced an agreement to publish Hey, Who’s In My House? Stepkids
Share Their Stories by Erin Mantz , which offers
Benefits below… for release in Winter 2015.
Who’s In My House? Stepkids Share Their Stories shares with readers Hey,
Who's In My House will offer readers insightful perspectives on how
stepfamilies and blended families impact kids – right from the kids themselves.
One in three Americans live in a stepfamily, and more than 50% of Americans will
live in a stepfamily at some point in their lives. Much has been written about
the stereotype of the “wicked stepmother” and stepparent survival
guides, but Hey, Who's In My House gives a voice to an integral part of all
these changing families – the kids. To a kid – many already reeling from their
parent’s divorce – being thrown into a living situation with another
family’s children and a new stepparent tremendously changes their lives, their
sense of belonging and simple things like buying the right kind of snacks and
reshuffling bedtime routines. Hey, Who's In My House tells those
stories. Stepkids and other fraction relay their experience first-hand, offering
insight into the new realities of stepfamily life in today’s world, tackling
everything from “Who used my Xbox game?” to what to do when your stepmom
texts you to come home.
From struggles to survivals and tips to triumphs, every stepkid has a story.
This collection of their poignant, personal essays speaks to the power
parents' decisions can have on children's lives, to the
resiliency of children, and, above all, the fact that, sometimes, some – not all
– can rewrite a new kind of happy ending.
